| Enjoy the taste & tradition from a family-owned
winery that believes in both! |
The Oakes family has a 90 year history of ties to
agriculture and the land in the northwest corner of Orleans Country.
In 2003 we planted our first wine grape. From that initial planting
of six acres and fourteen varieties has evolved into what is known
today as Leonard Oakes Estate Winery.
Our newest endeavor is named in honor of our founder, the first of
what is now four generations to farm the same land. The unique
and fertile soil left behind by the glaciers of the last ice age
combined with a climate moderated by gentle breezes and deep waters
of Lake Ontario provide us with one of the few remaining untapped
viticulture resources in the world.
We invite you to taste the fruit of our efforts as we attempt to
marry modern winemaking skills to the best of both old and new world
grapes in our latest family venture.
